1. Information We Collect

We collect the following information:

  • Account information: Email address and name when you create an account
  • Payment information: Processed securely through Stripe; we do not store card details
  • Search queries: N-Numbers and aircraft identifiers you look up
  • Usage data: Pages visited, features used, and interaction patterns
  • Device information: Browser type, IP address, and general location

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Generate and deliver aircraft due diligence reports
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions
  • Send transactional emails (report delivery, account notifications)
  • Improve the Service through analytics and product research
  • Prevent fraud and ensure platform security
  • Comply with legal obligations

3. Data Sources

TailCheck reports aggregate publicly available data from government sources including:

  • FAA N-Number Registry (aircraft registration and owner of record)
  • NTSB Aviation Accident Database (accidents and incidents)
  • Federal Register (which airworthiness directives name a make and model)
  • FAA registration and deregistration files (changes of registered owner)

Aircraft registration records, including the registrant's name and mailing city and state, are U.S. public records published by the FAA. TailCheck republishes only the fields the FAA publishes, and never a street address, telephone number, email address, date of birth or government identifier. If you are an aircraft registrant and want your name suppressed from TailCheck's free, search-indexable pages, email privacy@tailcheckai.com with the tail number; we will suppress it within 10 business days. We refresh the FAA registry file at least monthly and delete any registrant name or address the FAA has since withheld. TailCheck does not collect, store or publish flight-tracking or ADS-B position data about any aircraft.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

  • Stripe: Payment processing
  • Supabase: Database hosting and authentication
  • Vercel: Application hosting
  • Anthropic: AI analysis (no personal data is sent; only aircraft data)
  • PostHog: Product analytics (anonymized usage data)
  • Resend: Transactional email delivery

We may also disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or court order.

5. Data Retention

Generated reports are retained indefinitely for your access. Account data is retained while your account is active. Search history and analytics data are retained for up to 24 months. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.

6. Cookies & Tracking

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We use PostHog for product analytics, which may set analytics cookies. You can opt out of analytics tracking through your browser settings or by using a privacy extension.

7. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including:

  • HTTPS encryption for all connections
  • Row Level Security (RLS) in our database
  • CSRF protection for all API endpoints
  • Rate limiting to prevent abuse
  • Secure payment processing through Stripe (PCI-DSS compliant)

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your account and data
  • Opt out of marketing communications
  • Export your data in a portable format

California residents may have additional rights under the CCPA. EU residents may have additional rights under the GDPR.

9. Children's Privacy

TailCheck is not intended for use by individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes via email or a notice on the Service.
